Babatunde & King Noire Presents: Heaux Hopera
HEAUX HOPERA
YOU ARE INVITED TO AN EVENING OF THE UNEXPECTED
About
Babatunde HipHopera is an internationally celebrated baritone and the creator of Hip Hopera, a genre he pioneered by fusing the grandeur of classical opera with the rhythm and culture of hip-hop. Born in Nigeria and raised on Dr. Dre before discovering opera at 16, Tunde came to classical music as an outsider and never lost that perspective. It is what makes him singular.
In 2018, a video of Tunde blending Rossini’s Largo al Factotum with Kendrick Lamar’s HUMBLE went viral, amassing over 10 million views and earning coverage from TIME, Classic FM, Billboard, BET, ABC News, and more. What started as a moment became a movement. Hip Hopera is now a recognized genre, and Babatunde is its architect.
A classically trained opera singer, Tunde has performed with Los Angeles Opera, Detroit Opera, Utah Opera, and Portland Opera in standout roles including Matias Reyes in the Pulitzer Prize-winning opera The Central Park Five, Escamillo in Carmen, and Valentin in Faust. He has also appeared on Britain’s Got Talent, bringing Hip Hopera to a global television audience.
As a touring artist, Tunde has headlined sold-out tours across the country, and his shows are part concert, part storytelling, and a live experience unlike anything else in music today.
Off stage, Tunde has built a social media following in the millions by pulling back the curtain on opera and sharing its history, its Black pioneers, and his honest take on the industry. He has given audiences permission to love classical music on their own terms, and in doing so has brought thousands of people back to instruments that had been sitting in their attics for years.
Babatunde HipHopera is not just changing who listens to opera. He is changing what opera can be.
King Noire-
King Noire is an accomplished and award-winning writer, porn performer, artist, Master Fetish Trainer, MC and global activist using the proceeds of his album ‘Music Is My Weapon’ to build a school, fresh water well and medical clinic in Guinea Bissau, West Africa. He has used his position in the adult industry to develop an ethically sound molded toy in partnership with Lust Arts, raise consciousness around kink safety for people of color, and offer sex education to audiences ranging from college students to medical providers.
King has taken the Adult Entertainment Industry by storm, partnering with Jet Setting Jasmine to form Royal Fetish Films. The company has celebrated three industry Fetish Awards for Orally Yours (2016), Collared in Shadows (2017), and Sacred Sex (2018); and King winning the esteemed award of Male Fetish Performer of The Year(2022) & Best Male Cam Model(2022). King has also added Best Pansexual Performer for UrbanX(2023 & 2024). King brings his directorial and editing skills to each set, creating art and beauty in spaces that have been long neglected for people of color in Kink.
King Noire has appeared on The Daily Show podcast with Roy Wood Jr., has been a repeat guest on Whoreable Decisions, and made a cameo on Netflix’s series Bonding. King will also be featured on 2 episodes of Fuse’s Sex Sells.
King has been featured in articles for GQ, Esquire, Ebony, PaperMag, The Huffington Post, Business Insider, and Playboy. He also penned a piece on Black Love in the footsteps of one of his heroes, James Baldwin. King has been called a Renaissance man and a Renaissance fornicator. He brings his art to both in profound, prolific, and profane ways.
King is also very proud of his contributions to the music industry. His start in entertainment, as a hip-hop artist under the name Hasan Salaam, achieved Best Underground Song of the Year and Best Live Performance for the Underground Music Awards. He has also been featured musically on MTV UK, Fuse, NBC and CSPAN. He has performed internationally with music veterans, Outkast, Damian Marley & Redman and continues to add to his music catalogue with the launch of The Royal Fetish Experience.

The Willie Green project East Coast Tour
From Willie Green III
“Music has been an essential part of my life since I was born. It has helped me through some of the toughest times and has taught me valuable life lessons like perseverance, dedication, and how to stay calm in challenging situations. My Uncle Walter, who was my first drum teacher, helped me develop as a drummer from age 5-17 and gave me some outstanding life lessons on the drums. He taught me to play in the pocket and keep the groove through a song. My first time working with music outside of the church was in the Marching band, which was a mind-blowing experience. Music is not just a science or an art; it is a way of life that brings joy, clarity, and unity to those who listen and play. Recently, I took up composition, which was a significant decision for me. Being a composer brings many ups and downs, but it still brings me joy frequently. The process is long and hard, but I know that the finished product will be worth it. Sometimes, I'm curious about how the piece will sound and how people will receive it. I believe that music reflects what is inside you, and it has helped me through difficult times, such as a breakup and my grandfather's death. I love listening to music to calm me down and help me get my thoughts out. Depending on the day, I can listen to anything, but I mostly go out of my way to listen to Black American, Classical, and Latin Music. The coronavirus pandemic has made me more grateful for the opportunity to play music and know what life would be if music wasn't a part of my life. Spirituality is important to me, and I believe that going within ourselves can help bring balance and truth into our lives. It allows us to get closer to God and encounter our true selves beyond what we think, see, or hear about ourselves. This journey can be difficult, but I believe that Jesus and spirituality can bring balance.”

A Danielle Angrand Quartet Presentation
A STAR before your eyes
Danielle Angrand is an emerging Haitian-American jazz vocalist and mezzo-soprano bringing remarkable depth, warmth, and musical maturity to the stage. A YoungArts-recognized jazz vocalist currently studying Vocal Performance at Morgan State University, Danielle moves naturally between the language of straight-ahead jazz and her classical training, giving familiar standards a sound that feels both timeless and distinctly her own.
Already appearing alongside major jazz artists including Buster Williams, Joe Farnsworth, Warren Wolf and Emmet Cohen, Danielle is quickly establishing herself as one of the compelling young voices of her generation. Critics have praised her rich, smooth tone and the unusual emotional maturity she brings to songs such as “Misty,” “Georgia” and “Nice Work If You Can Get It.”
At Velvet Whip, the Danielle Angrand Quartet brings that voice into an intimate quartet setting—close enough to hear the conversation between vocalist and musicians, the improvisation, and all the little moments that make live jazz impossible to reproduce.
Come hear Danielle now. You may be hearing the beginning of a very interesting career.
GOLDI’S FOX PRESENTS- LES CLASSIQUES
LES CLASSIQUES: AN EROTIC BURLESQUE AFFAIR
THE CHALLAH-WEEN EDITION
Something wicked this way comes — and she brought challah. This Halloween, Burlesque Queen Goldi Fox summons her most delicious creatures of the night for Les Classiques: An Erotic Burlesque Affair — The Challah-Ween Edition.
Yes, darling. Challah-Ween.
Because there will be tricks.
There will be treats.
There will be tease.
And, naturally, there will be challah.
Slip into something sinful and join us for a night of burlesque, cabaret, camp, glamour & things that go bump — and grind — in the night.
DRESS TO KILL
Gather your ghouls, grab your boo, summon your coven & come dressed like you have every intention of being somebody’s bad decision. Costumes are HIGHLY encouraged. Give us vampires. Witches. Devils. Final girls. Femme fatales. Creatures. Camp. Leather. Lace. Rhinestones. Vintage horror. Unholy glamour. Whatever you choose — make it drop-dead gorgeous.
And don’t forget your cash, darling. Our creatures of the night feed on applause, appreciation & dollar bills.
PRE-SHOW SCHMOOZE HOUR — 8PM
Come early, because the temptation starts before the curtain goes up. Mingle with the cast, shop performer treasures, grab a specialty cocktail & settle in for live pole entertainment while resident DJ Craig Dash conjures Halloween classics, seductive grooves & dance-floor mischief.
And because it simply wouldn’t be Challah-Ween without the challah, Molly B Ropes will be supplying the evening’s homemade challah & cookies — because tricks are optional, but treats are non-negotiable. 🍞🍪✨
Sip. Schmooze. Snack. Enjoy the pole. Consider it your warm-up. Because when the clock strikes nine…the creatures come out to play.
SHOWTIME — 9PM
We’re raising the dead, lowering our inhibitions & resurrecting the sacred art of the tease with slow burns, wicked reveals, dangerous curves & enough rhinestones to make a cemetery sparkle. At Les Classiques, anticipation is everything.
A glance held one beat too long.
A zipper lowered one inch at a time.
A stocking rolled down with absolutely no regard for your blood pressure.
Because the best treats aren’t given away all at once. And on Challah-Ween? We make you beg for a piece.

STEVEN FARMER-LIVE IN PHILADELPHIA
Internationally touring comedian Steven Farmer headlines Velvet Whip Arts & Social Club! (Limited Seating)
2 Drink Minimum
Headliner: Steven Farmer
Steven Farmer is a comedian, filmmaker, actor, and author based in Austin, TX. After finally escaping Arkansas with a theatre degree from an agricultural school, he began his journey in standup comedy where he’s headlined across the country touring the U.S. and Europe. Steven’s comedy draws on his crazy experiences of growing up in a small town, his constant confusion with cultures while traveling, working jobs he had no business (or qualification) to be doing, and his unique ability to seamlessly switch between accents, impressions, and original characters. His standup comedy clips on social media have gone viral several times gaining millions of views. His comedy sketches on his YouTube channel have won multiple film festival awards around the world and have been featured on channels such as Right This Minute. The City Wide Sessions Returns! Hosted by Dan Kalowitz
Are you up to Jam with the best of Philly?
ARE YOU A MUSICIAN LOOKING TO JOIN THE JAM? RSVP FOR FREE ENTRY BELOW!
The last City Wide Sessions jam at Heritage Jazz in 2023 brought together a real mix of players—familiar faces, new voices, and the kind of easy collaboration that only happens when the room feels right. It’s the kind of night people still bring up.
Now, City Wide Sessions is returning—this time at Velvet Whip, with the possibility of becoming a monthly hang.
The idea is simple: create a consistent space where musicians across Philly can show up, sit in, experiment, and connect. A room that welcomes both seasoned players and newer artists, without pressure—just good energy and openness. It also creates a real opportunity for younger musicians to learn firsthand—playing alongside a high-quality house band, picking up the unspoken language of live performance in real time.
Nothing forced—just a good room, good people, and the music building from there.
